Requesting a long distance code

Request for a long distance authorization code can be submitted by the authorized Supervisor or Manager to the Service Desk. When requesting a code, please note the calling area when you make your request. The calling areas are:

  • Canada/US
  • Canada/US and Europe
  • International (includes Canada/US and Europe)

Note: Some countries are restricted due to telephone fraud. If you have any issues making a long distance call, please contact the Service Desk.

Long distance authorization codes are assigned to the individual not the department and should not be shared.  It is intended for use only by the person to whom it has been issued and will be emailed directly to the individual.  

Making a long distance call

To place a long distance call from your campus telephone, you must:

  • Use a long distance authorization code
  • Calls placed with authorization codes are billed to your department budget each month

To make a call to Canada and US

  1. Dial 9+1+Number
  2. Wait for 2 beeps
  3. Enter your long distance authorization code. Example: 9 1 718 555 5555

To make an International call

  1. Dial 9+011+Number
  2. Wait for 2 beeps
  3. Enter your long distance authorization code. Example: 9 011 64 12 3456789
