Setting Up Email On Your Smartphone

If you have a smartphone or tablet device you can send and receive email using the app of your choice. The following sections describe how to set up email using the default built-in mail applications for the most popular brands.

iPhone iOS 7

  1. If this is the first email account on your iPhone, open the Mail app. Otherwise open Settings and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.
  2. Tap Exchange.

  3. In the Email box type your full email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@senecacollege.ca).
  4. In the In the Password box type your Seneca password.
  5. In the Description box type a description such as "Seneca Email".
  6. Tap Next at the top-right corner of the screen. If the app automatically detects your settings skip to step 8. Otherwise continue to the next step.

  7. In the Usernane box type your full email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@senecacollege.ca).
  8. In the Server box type outlook.office365.com.
  9. Tap Next.
  10. Tap the switches next to Mail, Contacts, and Calendars to specify which features you would like to sync on your phone.

  11. Tap the Home button to return to the home screen.

Android 4.2

  1. Tap the Settings app.

  3. Tap Corporate.
  4. Type in your email address and password.
  5. On the Account type page tap Exchange.

  6. If the Problem with account setup window shows, tap Edit details.

  7. In the Server field type outlook.office365.com.

  8. On the Remote security administration screen tap OK.

  9. On the Account options screen configure your notification and sync preferences and tap Next.

  10. On the Your account is set up and email is on its way! screen tap Next.
  11. Pull down the notification drawer at the top of the screen and tap the Security update required message.

  13. On the Activate device administrator? window tap Activate.
     

BlackBerry 10

  1. From the home screen tap Settings.

  4. Tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

  5. In the Domain field type seneds.
  6. In the Username field type your full email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@senecacollege.ca).
  7. In the Email Address field type your full email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@senecacollege.ca).
  8. In the Password field type your Seneca password.
  9. In the Server Address field type outlook.office365.com.
  10. In the Port field type 443.
  11. Tap the Use SSL button to turn it on.
  12. On the following screen use the buttons to choose which features to sync with your phone.

  13. Tap Done at the upper-right corner.
